How I love the old doors of the Gulf Region. I could paint them forever.

The door itself may be quite plain and small, the only decoration being brass studs and often a narrow, intricately carved central support.

But how grand and arresting to the eye are the carved gypsum panels with their unique Islamic designs set into the wall above and below the archway above the door. The circles and rectangles creating a magical piece of artwork and stating- Here lives someone important.
