The Mogahwi House

Palm trees and climbing plants often grew over the walls in the narrow streets of my neighborhood where I grew up in Muharraq . Always a very observant child, I was fascinated with my surroundings. I couldn’t wait to draw and paint them, especially if the streets were made interesting with a carved doorway or a palm tree growing at an interesting angle. I am blessed with a photographic memory and can see these vanished sights as clearly now as I did when I was a child. An art student of mine called Abdulla Al Mugahwi lived in this delightful house.
